Nicholas E. Sheets graduated from Brigham Young University in 2014 with a bachelor's degree in Theatre Arts Studies and a bachelor's degree in Spanish.

While a student at BYU, he dramaturged The Phantom of the Opera and Cymbeline. His acting credits include Romeo & Juliet and Godspell, as well as Jane Eyre: the musical in Salt Lake City. As a student he also taught three semesters of Spanish classes on the BYU campus (Span 101 & 102).

Sheets graduated with BYU's highest honors and completed an undergraduate thesis entitled: "Jorge Ibargüengoitia’s Socio-Economic Commentary in Llegó Margó.

Sheets was the 2012 recipient of the 'Outstanding Theatre Student Employee' Award and the 2014 'Outstanding Spanish Major' Award. He also received two Fulton Grants for research in Mexico as well as attendance at the 2013 LMDA (Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the Americas) Conference in Vancouver, Canada. He also received the Edwin S. Hinckley Scholarship (BYU's most prestigious private scholarship) for his final two years at BYU.

Sheets was included on the winter 2013 Dean's List, the winter 2012 Dean's List and the winter 2011 Dean's List.
