Javen Tanner graduated from Brigham Young University in 2000 with a bachelor's degree in acting. Tanner then graduated with a master's degree in acting from the Old Globe in San Diego.

In New York, he recently appeared in Creation, A Clown Show. At the Old Globe he has appeared in All My Sons, Twelfth Night, Love’s Labour’s Lost, Heartbreak House, and others. His play Cold Pastoral was performed at the Old Globe USD’s Studio Theatre.

Tanner has taught acting at BYU, and has conducted workshops in Utah and California, and at New York University’s Playwrights Horizons Theater School. He is currently the Associate Artistic Director for The Handcart Ensemble, an acting troupe based in New York City.
