Emily May Bateman graduated from Brigham Young Univeristy in 2014 with a bachelor's degree in vocal performance with a minor in theatre arts studies.

In 2009, through an Oscarson Discovery Grant, Bateman competed in the Classical Singer Competition in Chicago. She also attended the first-ever music study abroad, sponsored by the School of Music and under the direction of Lawrence Vincent.
