David Stauffer was born in Oakland, California and was raised in Sacramento. He graduated from the LDS Business College in 2010 where he was voted Student Body President. In 2013, he graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Communications, advertising emphasis.

In 2014, at the American Advertising Awards Gala (formerly the Addys), a Gold Award was awarded to Lucozade - Refuel Your Drive (TV), for which Stauffer was videographer.
