Amy Owens graduated from Brigham Young University in 2010 with a bachelor's degree in vocal performance.

In 2008, she played Zerlinna in the BYU produced opera Don Giovanni. The following year, Owens was one of thirty-four students to reach the semi-final round of competition at the Classical Singer National Collegiate Convention. In 2013 Amy played the part of Papagena in the Utah Opera's production of The Magic Flute.
