Albert O. Mitchell was a professor of theatre and general speech at Brigham Young University. He received his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from the University of Utah in 1933 and 1935. He received his Ph.D. at the University of Wisconsin in 1939.

Mitchell was the Chairman of the Utah Teachers of Speech Association in 1947-48. He was a member of the board of the Children's Theatre Section of the American Educational Theatre Association in 1950-54. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of the American National Theatre Academy in 1953-55.
