Sheila Broomhead Bateman graduated from Brigham Young University in 1990 with a bachelor's degree in Zoology and a minor in music. Although she mainly studied science Bateman was always musical. At age 4 she started studying violin and then played with the Seattle Youth Symphony when she was older. At BYU she participated in the prestigious Philharmonic Orchestra.
Now living in Washington, Sheila has passed on her musical tendencies to her children and private students. In 2009 Bateman formed a group where community youth string players could come learn to play their instruments in a group setting.
