R. Brent Adams received his BFA in environmental design and his MFA in fine art from the University of Utah. He is currently a professor of industrial design and animation at Brigham Young University and teaches courses in 3-D computer graphics. He specializes in mentoring students in the visualization aspect of the creation of animated short films.

Adams’ oversaw the production of Student Emmy Award winning animations Lemmings, Petshop and Noggin. He also oversaw two more short films, Pinata and Pajama Gladiator. In 2008, Adams was appointed director of the new BYU Center for Animation.

Adams was featured in a New York Times article on BYU's rapidly developing Animation Program in May of 2013. The same year, Adams participated in the creation of the Christmas music video "Christmas in L.A." for the band The Killers. He helped manage the project and resources.

In March of 2015, Adams was presented with the Faculty Recognition Award from the University Accessibility Center at the Center's Fifteenth Annual Awards Banquet. The award recognizes extraordinary service to BYU students with disabilities.
