Julian Cavazos is a 2008 Graduate of Brigham Young University with a bachelor's degree in print journalism.

In 2008, Cavazos was awarded an Oscarson Discovery Grant, which paid for him to move Arizona for a summer, accepting a position with the Pulliam Journalism Fellowship at Arizona Republic.

As a student, Cavazos worked as the Campus Editor for The Daily Universe. He also reported for The New York Times Student Journalism Institute, The Monitor in McAllen, Tex. The Brownsville (Texas) Herald, and The Pan American in Edinburg, Tex.

Cavazos is interested in video journalism and photography. He is happily married to Emilee Haines- Cavazos, and has two cats, Phineas and Reuben.

He is currently a reporter at the Victoria (Texas) Advocate, where he covers education.
