John W. Sipherd

John W. Sipherd was the chair of the Department of Design for Brigham Young University from 1985-1988. He was a member of the Visual Arts Faculty for twenty-two years, 1976-1999.

At BYU, Sipherd was the first director of the Design New York Internship Program in New York in 1994. He was also the director of the program for the years of 1997 and 1998. He also directed study abroad programs for the University in Paris, England, and Japan/Asia.

He graduated from California State University Los Angeles in 1962, and holds degrees in art, interior design, and architecture. His doctorate degree included research in Europe in 1981 in the area of design and construction methods of sculptural architecture.

Sipherd and his wife, Janice, live in Orem, where he sells his art through his business, Sipherd Prints.
