Jared R. Cook graduated from Brigham Young University in 2009 with a bachelor's degree in media arts studies. He was selected by the Theatre and Media Arts faculty to speak at the April 2009 Convocation.

Cook's interest in film started at an early age, with amateur film making becoming his passion. By the time Cook reached college, his knack for film helped make him a stand out student. Following a recommendation from his professors, Cook was given the opportunity to intern with famed filmmaker Ron Howard on the film, Angels and Demons.

Cook received the Audience Choice Award at the 2009 LDS Film Festival for his short film, The Teller's Tale.
