Janielle Hildebrandt Christensen became active in professional theatre and music at an early age, co-hosting a daily television show at 12 years old and playing with the Musicians' Union at 14. She studied classical pipe organ at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria, and graduated from Brigham Young University in 1967 with a bachelor's degree in speech and drama.
