Jacob Swain graduated from Brigham Young University in 2015 with a bachelor's degree in acting.

Swain has played various stage roles including Tony from West Side Story, Bobby from Crazy for You, Lt. Wright from The Secret Garden, and in other shows at BYU. In July of 2011, Swain returned from serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Queens and Brooklyn, New York. When he returned from his mission. Swain became a member of BYU's Young Ambassadors.

In 2012, Swain played the parts of Sparky and William in Pickleville Playhouse's The Hanging of El Bandito. In 2013, he played the roles of David, Paul, Mitch and Jackson in BYU's Microburst Theatre Festival.

In 2014, Swain won the regional Irene Ryan Scholarship Competition and went on to compete at the national level. His partner he competed with was Mallory Gee. Regional winners receive a scholarship, have their travel expenses to the nationals reimbursed, and have a chance to receive one of the two national Irene Ryan Scholarships. The same year, he played the stage manager in BYU's production of Our Town, directed by Stephanie Breinholt. The following year, he received a national award from the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival for Distinguished Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role for his performance.

His film credits include the musical feature film Lovestruck! and the web series Pick Your Own Adventure.

In 2015, he received an Outstanding Student Award and an Outstanding Acting Student Award from BYU's Theatre and Media Arts Department. The same year, he performed at the BYU Showcase in the June Havoc Theatre in New York.
