In 2008, she received the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival award for her musical direction of Little Women. In 2010, Lockwood directed twelve recent graduates who showcased their talents for agents, managers and casting directors in New York. In 2014, she received the Karl G. Maeser Professional Faculty Excellence Award.
Lockwood was the musical director for BYU's 2015 production, and the US premiere, of The Count of Monte Cristo. That same year, Lockwood and Timothy Threlfall made a presentation entitled "From Staged Reading to Rully Stages: Models for Academic Production of New Works" at the international conference of the Music Theatre Educator’s Alliance in Perth, Australia.
