Gayanne Ramsden holds a PhD in theatre and cinematic arts from Brigham Young University. She also received a bachelor's degree in history from BYU, and obtained a secondary teaching certificate from San Jose State University in California.

Ramsden taught Public Speaking at Utah Valley University from 1999 to 2001 and at BYU from 2002 to 2008. She also taught Creative Dramatics and Storytelling at BYU. Volunteer work includes being on board of the Rocky Mountain Youth Theatre and auditioning actors for films produced by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Ramsden has also won prizes in poetry and playwriting.
