Erika Hill graduated from Brigham Young University in 2011 with a master's degree in Theatre and Media Arts.

Hill found an interest in teaching principles of media literacy while studying Media Arts at Brigham Young University. Prior to her graduation in 2007, where she was invited by the faculty in the Theatre and Media Arts department to speak, she worked as a student teacher and student coordinator for the Hands on a Camera service-learning project, as well as a teacher's assistant for various media arts classes.

She currently works as a part-time instructor at BYU, and as an administrator for both the Hands on a Camera project and the Media Education Database. In 2013 Hill was hired as the Community Relations Coordinator at the Provo City Library.
