Erica Egli Garcia graduated from Brigham Young University in 2002 with a bachelor's degree in clarinet performance. In 2001, she was awarded an Oscarson Discovery Grant, which enabled her to travel to Chicago and audition for the Chicago Civic Orchestra.

After graduating from BYU, Erica moved on to receive her Masters of Music Performance from University of Oklahoma (OU), where she studied with David Etheridge. Since her OU graduation in 2004, Erica has stayed active as both a teacher and arts administrator. She has lived in Boston, where she worked for Longy School of Music as the Preparatory Division Coordinator and Ann Arbor, MI, where she worked for the Detroit Symphony as their Manager of Civic Youth Ensembles. She now lives in Beaumont, TX, where she spends most of her energies teaching and playing with her young children. She also is active in playing clarinet in the community.
