Emma Hoskisson graduated from Brigham Young University in 2010 with a bachelor's degree in media arts studies.

In 2010, Emma and fellow student Jenica Heintzelman were awarded an Oscarson Discovery Grant allowing them to create a short documentary on an innovative social program in South America that involves youth in a musical environment. The organization Sonidos de la Tierra was founded by Luis Szarán.

In 2011, Emma worked as assistant editor for the film Drum Beats, which was later accepted to the Heartland Film Festival, one of the highest purse prizes of film festivals in the world.
