Dennis James Campbell was born in the small town of Vernal, Utah, on October 5, 1936, to David and Hattie Campbell. Early in his life Dennis became interesting in music and throughout his life he enjoyed playing the guitars he made. In 1957-1959 he served a full-time proselyting mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Easter States. Upon his return he met Helga Moerdelmeyer and three months later they were married and sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. He obtained his Federal Communications Commission (FCC) License and then worked in broadcasting until he retired. He especially enjoyed working as the Chief Radio Announcer at KBYU-FM, a component of BYU Broadcasting.
