Carrie Beutler Morgan graduated from Brigham Young University in 1987 with a bachelor's degree in theatre arts. She received a master's degree in acting from the National Theatre Conservatory in 1990, and she received a master of landscape architecture from Utah State University in 2002.

She returned to BYU as a part-time member of the Theatre and Media Arts Faculty. She has also taught at the State University of New York and Salt Lake School for the Performing Arts, where she is currently the chair of the Theatre Department.

In 2010, Morgan starred in the Pulitzer-winning drama, Talley's Folley, in Provo, Utah.
