Alvin Harold Goodman

Alvin Harold "Hal" Goodman was born 14 July, 1924 in Solomonville, Arizona. He married Hattie Naomi Foster on August 25, 1945 and the couple was later sealed in the Mesa Arizona Temple on June 2, 1948. He passed away peacefully at age 82 in Grain Valley, Missouri on June 25, 2007. Goodman had three children, twenty-three grandchildren and thirty-four great grandchildren.

Goodman graduated from University of Arizona and University of Southern California with a doctorate in Music Education. Employment included Northern Arizona University and Brigham Young University, where he served as Chair of the Music Department from 1966-1980, conducted orchestras and bands, and received numerous awards. Goodman was recognized in 1998 as the Honored Alumnus from the College of Fine Arts and Communications.

As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served as president of the BYU 5th Stake; Sunday School General Board; chair of the Executive Church Music Committee; Provo Temple presidency; England London mission president; Atlanta Temple president; and Kansas City Stake patriarch.
